Our team at KAD Dental would like to take this opportunity to address our valued clients regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and how it is continuing to impact our industry and the way we deliver care to patients.
Over the past days and weeks, a wide range of information has circulated on various websites and social media accounts regarding which services dental practices and dentists can provide during this pandemic, if any. Some of the things shared are fact and some are based in fear and misunderstanding.
In order to provide our clients and employees with the most up to date, factual information, we have spent a considerable amount of time consulting with our in-house and outside attorneys, the office of the Texas State Governor and other professionals.
As a Nation and specifically, as a dental industry, we are all working together to simultaneously flatten the curve and, provide for the needs of our communities.
At this time, all government agencies in Texas and across the US are currently in agreement that non-urgent and elective procedures should be delayed for a period. In Texas, that period is presently from today through May 1st 2020. If you are outside of Texas, we encourage you to review the website of your State Governor to find specific dates that apply to your State.
The governing bodies of our Nation agree that while dental professionals should postpone non-urgent or elective procedures, we DO need to be available to attend to the urgent and emergency needs during this time in order to maintain the health and well-being of the community and to reduce the number of patients who could present in the emergency room as a result of unattended dental needs (see the ADA’s guidelines in the image provided in this post). This is true even of those Texas counties currently under orders to Shelter In Place. As always, OSHA and other infection control procedures are of UTMOST importance to keep patients and team members safe
Some offices have elected to close completely during this time, and we respect those decisions. For the offices who wish and are able to remain open, perhaps with limited hours, and certainly offering limited procedures and increased precautions, we want you to know that we are here for you and we have team members who can help you meet the needs of your offices.
Our company’s business services arm, KAD Dental, is available to assist with the inevitable business questions that will arise during this crisis. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with ANY questions you have during this time.
Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with each and every person impacted by this global pandemic.
We are here for you and we have not, and will not, lose hope as we walk out this crisis alongside of each of you.
